One of the biggest challenges on a yeast free diet is not having sweets
and dessert. Making a little snack or treat helps get past the sugar
cravings.
Following a yeast free protocol can be discouraging, especially when
the sweet cravings hit. When they do, it can be overwhelming. Be
prepared by having ingredients on hand to make a dessert or treat. This
helps to get through the challenging spots, especially after you've
completed the initial strict phase.These recipes include Stevia, but if other sugar substitutes are permitted, they can be added instead. Sweeteners can be omitted entirely.
Here are some yummy dessert recipes that are acceptable for most candidia diets:
Yeast Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Snack
In a blender, combine 3 tablespoons of sugar-free natural peanut butter, 1 cup of plain yogurt, two tablespoons heavy whipping cream, two teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder, several drops of Stevia extract or Stevia powder to taste and two to three ice cubes. Blend until smooth and serve. Makes one serving.For a different twist, freeze and eat when frozen to a slush consistency, similar to ice cream.
Yeast Free Vanilla Custard Dessert
- 2 cups milk
- 10 drops Stevia extract
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/8 each teaspoon salt and nutmeg
Fill a roasting pan with one inch of water, place cups or casserole dish in pan and bake uncovered in 325 degree F oven for 50-60 minutes, or until inserted knife comes out clean. Remove from oven and pan, cool on wire rack and then chill in refrigerator until served.
Yeast Free Brownies
These are delicious, but definitely not low-fat!- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup grated zucchini
- 1/3 cup non-wheat flour (oat, amaranth,spelt)
- 1/3 cup rice flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon Stevia powder or 10 drops liquid concentrate
- 1/2 cup soft butter
Berries and Cream
Using heavy whipping cream in recipes is a good way to help feel satisfied and not so deprived of special foods. Spoon 3 or 4 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream over fresh or frozen fruit like blueberries and strawberries and if desired, add a drop or sprinkle of Stevia, although it's not necessary. Serve in a pretty glass or cup to add to the ambiance of dessert.Spending a little extra time preparing simple dessert dishes to go along with your other meals and yeast-free diet ingredients helps make the candida diet a little easier to swallow.
